Rochester Dance TeamThe Rochester Dance Team is a show and competitive dance team that performs at various home games and events for Rochester High School. The team competes in the Pom and Jazz categories both at the local and national level. The team most recently took home an 8th place finish in finals in Jazz and an 11th place finish in Pom at the 2019 Dance Team Union National Championships in Orlando, Florida. The team attends dance camp over the summer, and will train and condition with practices in the Summer, Fall and Winter seasons.
Coach Lisa NiskarOriginally from Chicago, Lisa Niskar has been living in the Detroit suburbs for the past 18 years. Lisa started dancing at the age of 5, and studied ballet, jazz, tap, lyrical, hip hop, and acrobatics. She has had over 18 years of studio training, and began competing nationally by the age of 8. She studied dance in Chicago at Herrstrom School of Music and Dance as her 'home base' with instructors from Joel Hall, River North and Gus Giordano. She studied tap from and performed with Lane Alexander, and also studied ballet at Ruth Page and Lou Conte. Lisa is a former 4 year member of the University of Illinois at Chicago "Dancing Flames" dance team, and was a UDA College Dance Team National Champion during her Senior year. Lisa went on to become Assistant Coach and then Head Coach of the UIC Dancing Flames and choreographed for the team, as well. She was also a UDA instructor for 3 years, and went on to become a Head Instructor. She has been choreographing and consulting for competitive high school and college dance teams for the past 23 years with several State and National Champion titles, currently judges various competitions throughout the United States, and teaches at Deborah’s Stage Door Center for the Performing Arts. Most importantly, Lisa loves being a 'dance mom' to her daughter, Macy.
